Kunzite is a relatively recent addition to the gemological canon. While the mineral spodumene has been long known as a source of lithium, it was only in the 1800s that famed American gemologist George Kunz described the clear, lilac-to-purple variety of the stone from a find in California (at the same mine where Morganite was discovered). Spodumene is also known for its rarer variety, Hiddenite, an emerald-green gem. Kunzite has since been discovered in Afghanistan, where there are rich deposits of lithium, and that is where this stone comes from.

It is a beautiful and sizable gem crystal, a light lilac color from the side which grows much more intense when looking down the length of the crystal (a feature kunzite is famous for; see the second photo). Overall, it's a beautiful gem crystal, with great lustre and some really interesting crystal form as well. It's also possible that it might provide some facet rough, though I would have trouble breaking up a crystal this beautiful myself.
The crystal weighs in at 243 carats, and measures 2 1/4 inches (5.7 cm) in length.

The item will be shipped in a priority mail flat-rate box to buyers in the US. Canadian shipping is through US first class international mail, and other international shipping is through first class registered mail.
