Offering a vintage 1950's marked size 4, K&E, Keuffel & Esser, Barch-Payzant brass pen and ink freehand lettering pen. Prior to AutoCAD these vintage ink well style pens were used in architectural, engineering and cartography drawing, drafting and lettering.

The original patents for these pens dates back to the 1920's, however, standardized sizes began in the 1930's. This Barch-Bayzant freehand lettering and drawing pen has a brass nib and the handle is black lacquered wood subsequent pens were made of metal with cork rests for comfort.

It is in excellent vintage condition, with no splits or damage to the nib. It comes with the original paper covered cardboard box case with the K&E embossed logo and cork nib protector. The box does have writing on it which may have been a catalog number. Perfect as home decor, a prop or for use in pen and ink drawing and mixed media art.
