A kavacha is a special type of talisman. They usually consist of prayers written down and placed inside a gold or silver tube. They are commonly worn for protection in Southeast Asia. "Kavacha" can literally be translated to mean "armor."

This sterling silver kavacha is from Vrindavan,India. The front has the wording "JAYA NRSIMHA DEVA", and the back has some simple decorative embellishments. The talisman contains prayers devoted to Narasrimha Dev; they keep away ghosts, demons, and other kinds of evil.

I gave this sterling silver kavacha an aged, antiqued look by oxidizing it and then polishing to its current patina. I think this brings out the metal work beautifully.

Pendant is strung on tulsi / holy basil neck beads (also from Vrindavan), interspersed with randomly placed white freshwater pearls and silver Bali beads. Sterling silver spring clasp.

Length: 18-1/4" including clasp
