"Eidyia" A print of the original painting by Emily Balivet, 2009.
A portrait of an ocean Goddess in rich blues, greens and golds.
In Greek mythology, Eidyia is an Oceanid, one of the three thousand daughters of the Titans, Oceanus and Tethys.
Her name was derived from the Greek word eidô, "to see" or "know." In the familial sense she probably personified the magical power of the eye, which in Greek superstition was the source of the witch's supernatural power.
The image measures 11" x 14" and is printed on acid-free, matte photo paper with a generous border allowance for matting and framing. The print is sealed in a protective cello sleeve, signed on the back, and shipped flat.
