This butter pot is made from stoneware, and glazed in a warm Nutmeg, and has a vintage natural history image of a bear, with a paw print inside.

It is a french butter keeper. You put the real butter in the lid and a layer of water in the bottom. When the lid is closed, the lid and the water make an airtight seal keeping your butter fresh. This way you can keep your butter on the counter and it is always spreadable. Just make sure there is enough water to meet the lid when it is closed.

To serve the butter, just put the lid on the table with the butter side up! The shape of the lid makes it easy to pick up, and stable to serve from.

This butter keeper holds about 1/2 cup of butter, or 1 stick. It is 4 inches wide and about 3 inches tall. It had a third firing to put on the handmade iron oxide decals, that are fired into the glaze.

This butter bell is food safe, dishwasher safe and oven safe if started in a cool oven.
This means that to clean it, just pop it in the dishwasher!
