Return to the roots of folk rock with this pivotal album by the Band! Released in 1968 and featuring 3 songs penned by Bob Dylan, this record (for better or worse) turned the underground 60s music scene away from paisley-tinged psychedelia toward a more earnest, traditional rock sound. Their mixture of country, folk and rock influenced the Grateful Dead to go acoustic with "American Beauty" and inspired countless guitarists to strip their hand-painted day-glo guitars down to the bare wood. The Band had honed their chops for a decade, first backing Ronnie Hawkins as the Hawks and later played with Dylan on his mythical electric tour in 1966. The album is named after the big pink house some of the band members shared in upstate New York though the record itself was recorded in New York and LA. A strange and beautiful album, this set the stage for the singer-songwriter revolution of the 70s and the many subsequent roots rock revivals. Even Siousxie and the Banshees recorded a version of "This Wheel's on Fire" on their 1987 LP "Through the Looking Glass."
Don't be put off by the weird cover- it was painted by Bob Dylan!

In VERY GOOD condition. No skips noted, plays clean and bright. Exterior cover has medium wear.
