This collage art journal is perfect for scribbling musings, composing poetry or documenting your travel adventures.

The covers are made with sturdy art canvas panels and the binder ring model allows easy addition and removal of pages. I sealed the covers with Mod Podge to protect the artwork.

Each one of my journals is a one of a kind piece of functional art, full of imaginative detail. As a writer myself, I have always sought out unique journals that inspire me to create. I hope this journal will do that for you!

* Art canvas panels are 6 x 8 inches. The paper is 5 ½ x 7 ½ inches.

* There are a 126 pieces of plain, unlined paper and 8 sheets of pale gray and blue cardstock. Back and front, there are a total of 268 pages

* Highly detailed images of 19th century engravings from the Harter’s Picture Archive were used to adorn the outer and inner covers. I finely cut and glued pictures of a butterfly, a moth, a parrot and a majestic bird in flight.

* The outer covers were painted with aqua acrylic paint. Then, torn pieces of the outermost layer of decorative napkins were decoupaged to the covers. I used a segment of bubble wrap to stamp off white acrylic paint on the surface. Then, a layer of clear gesso was used to add texture and to allow me to further stamp and write on the covers.

* Decorative cardstock that was stamped with a mixture of silver, sage and black paint was adhered to the inner covers. I snipped a collection of phrases and words from a children’s’ storybook and assembled them into two found poems that are both dreamlike and whimsical:

“I dreamed a butterfly/ flew down to the ground/ and scattered all over/ the distant green hills/ a family of flowers/ looked up at the bright/ shining sun.”

“Long ago/ life upon the earth/ was great and powerful/ sunrise until sunset, / and all these wondrous things/ and places/ could sing.”
