These beautiful earrings are Victorian love tokens and date to around the late 1800's. There is an intricate engraved design on the front with a loved one's initials. This pair has two different initials on the front and are Canada dimes. Love tokens were a popular gift during the Victorian and Edwardian periods. Some of the tokens were handmade by the giver, others were engraved by a jeweler. Usually, the original design was filed away from one side of the coin, and a name, initials or an object were engraved on the coin. Women wore them as charms and on charm bracelets. I have wire wrapped beautiful iridescent faceted labradorite cubes to sterling chain and added rhinestone drops. They have sterling ear wires. They measure 1 5/8" long and the love tokens measure 5/8" wide.
