A fantastic find...This is an early 1900s travel suitcase by the Samson made by Shwayder Brothers in Denver, Colorado.

The exterior of this case is an army green metal with lovely patina. The case is in excellent antique condition and it is nice and clean on the inside. The exterior has great patina and the signs on a well traveled suitcase. The bottom has a little bit of rust. Over the years this was used to store Christmas decorations and there are a few pieces of masking tape that say Xmas and Christmas on the sides. I love the black metal corner protectors. The inside has just a little bit of the Shwayder label left and a tan patterned paper covering.

The Colorado native Jesse Shwayder moved to New York in his 20s and was a successful sales rep for a large luggage company. When he returned home to Denver he started his own luggage company. The original name for that company was the Shwayder Trunk Manufacturing Company. Jesse started that company with his life's savings of $3,500.00. Later they renamed the luggage Samson around 1916. Then later changed the name to Samsonite around 1919.

There are 3 latches on this suitcase. The two outside latches work great to secure the case closed. Part of the middle lock latch is missing.

The case is 24 X 12 X 7 inches.
