The Union Jack cushion has become a staple of interior fashion over the past few years, regardless of your patriotic origins. The world loves London and with 2 sweet Royal babies and a big birthday for The Queen, what better time than now to treat yourself to this modern classic

This listing is for a pdf pattern with full instructions on how to make my Brit Brit Hooray! Union Jack cushion. The file will beavailable for download as soon as your payment is confirmed, so that you can get stitching straight away

Simply print out the file (use both sides of your printer paper to be kind to the trees!) and follow my step by step instructions to piece together your cushion, using the diagrams and photo as a visual guide

For this project you will need...

* 4 fabrics that work well as a collection. Try mixing different scales of patterns or adding a self pattern plain and don't be afraid to use colours that stray away from the traditional red, white and blue. Get creative!

* measuring & cutting equipment - a rotary cutter and mat are best, but scissors and ruler will work fine

* a piece of wadding or fleece fabric

* a cushion insert approx 48 x 31cm / 18 x 12"

This project can be hand or machine sewn and is suitable for all levels as there are no fasteners or zippers; the cushion has an envelope closure at the back

... and if you'd like to buy a pre-made cushion please convo me for more info - I'd be delighted to make one for you!

Happy sewing!

Frequently asked questions about getsmitten

What is a fat quarter, I hear you cry?! It is a term widely used in the patchwork and crafting world that denotes a quarter of a meter of fabric. In order to give a more useful area to work with, they take a meter of fabric and quarter it by length and width so that you have a 'fat' quarter rather than a long one

They are 18 x 22" or 45 x 55cm
If you require pieces of vintage fabric larger than a fat quarter, please message me with you requirements. I have enough in stock I am happy to oblige.

My fabrics are pre-loved sheeting and so are not available by the meter or yard as with traditional fabrics - please let me know your desired size and will measure the amount I have left in stock

If you purchase multiples of one fabric, I will always try to provide it as one cut piece wherever possible. I will message you before dispatching your order if this is not possible
