♛The Details

Well, knock me over with a feather! From my personal collection (aka hoard), this vintage dress surely has some stories to tell. A vintage late 1950s, early 1960s bombshell in gold Lurex fabric layered over golden acetate. Sparkly dark gold metallic sequins highlight the vavoom-worthy neckline. Classic hourglass silhouette with a halter neck, ruching at your cleavage, a nipped waistline, and a sexy sheath skirt that's cut daringly high in the front, with a perfect fabric rose located just below your...well...you get the idea. And in back, we've got a matching smaller rose perched over a full-length flyaway train, also backed in golden acetate.

Closes up back with metal zipper. No labels, but a ton of history, it has a hand-written ink notation hidden inside back bodice that reads "Pullman Players." I believe this is a reference to a theatre troupe. The dress certainly is worthy of stage and show.

Not for the wallflowers out there, this dress is for the sex kitten who wants to be seen and admired!

All accessories (belts, jewelry, crinolines, pins, etc.) are for style inspiration only unless indicated.

♛The Measurements

About a modern size XS to S, though it apparently was once larger as it has multiple large seam allowances inside from a previous alteration -- the good news is that the fabric allowances are still there, so it could potentially be altered larger to taste.
Bust (underarm to underarm, measured flat then doubled): 34" (I think a bit more can be squeezed in here if you like the pushed-up, heaving bust effect)
Waist: 26"
Hips: 34"
Top of bodice where halter strap attaches measured down to waist, not including halter strap: 9"
Waist to hem: 26" and has 1" hem allowance

♛The Condition

Very good vintage shape with no overt flaws or issues that I could find. The Lurex is very clean. If you look inside the dress, you'll find that it appears it was altered to be smaller than it once was. The original fabric allowances are still there. It appears to have once been used as a theatre costume, though it is genuinely a Midcentury piece in all respects. It appears the halter strap has been reattached at some point, though you really have to micro-inspect up close to see this. I also think there should be a hook/eye above back zipper. Overall, it's a sturdy, dynamic piece and ready to dazzle.
