This cup and saucer is simply beautiful! Made by the Merit China Company, it is hand painted, and made in Occupied Japan. This stamp was used in 1944, at the end of WWII, until 1952. The flowers are still bright and lovely, and show little wear. There are pink and yellow flowers with green leaves, and lilly pads in blue. All of the florals are outlined in gold. The handle of the cup, rim of the cup, saucer, and footing of the cup also have gold detail. In addition, the rim of the cup, saucer, and footing are lightly scalloped. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs to this set.
