This is an original encaustic painting composed of recycled shredded paper bills and envelopes, hand cut paper easter eggs, lunaria seed pods grown in my gardens, and locally produced, unbleached beeswax that I make into my own encaustic medium. The wonderful yellow background color is the natural coloring of the beeswax.

For the process, I melt layers of encaustic wax to seal everything into place. The encaustic creates a natural matte finish, which I then buff to an ultra soft, sateen sheen. The encaustic also dries to a warm, see-through, almost buttery yellow glow and reveals a wonderfully soft beeswax aroma.
