This traditional Uzbek hand embroidered textile (circa 1960's) would typically be stitched to a band of tassels or fringe. Used as a decorative cover for bed rolls, they are hung from the side of a yurt when not in use during the day. With the growing popularity of tribal bellydance, these vintage textiles are often incorporated into modern dance costuming.

The rich red base is hand embroidered with a repeating floral motif in shades of blue, green, yellow, black and white. There is some gentle fading of the colors towards the center of the point of the V which is to fairly typical in old silk textiles like this.

The V shaped fabric measures 6" wide. Each side measures 25" along the outside edge and 19 1/2" along the inside of the V. There is plenty of fabric there to use for a tribal dance belt or for covering a tribal bra. The textile also comes with 9 vintage mother of pearl buttons that were salvaged from the damaged fringe that was once attached to the edge. They contrast quite nicely with the rich red cloth.
