Danish Modern Art Glass Vase - Paul Kedelv Coquille Crystal Vase For Flygsfors Glass

Paul Kedelv created one of the most distinctive and interesting series in Scandinavian glass in the 1950s with his Coquille pieces for Flygsfors. "Coquille" means "shell" in French, which makes sense given the form of this line: white glass cased in a color, then cased in heavy crystal. Kedelv's designs would go on to influence many of the Mid Century Scandinavian glass giants, and his work is justifiably seen as among the best of Modernist art glass. This particular piece features a lovely pink color scheme, a combination that looks wonderfully Modern next to the clean, clear crystal. The bottom of this piece is signed "Coquille Flygsfors '59," indicating the year of its creation. This piece is in great condition, showing very little of its age. This vase is incredibly stunning, both in form and size. The inside of the vase features an ornate, pearl inspired accent. A stunning example of Kedelv's talent, this Coquille bowl displays beautifully in any home, be it Mid Century inspired or otherwise.
