A 1948 12in. Indexed Terrestrial Globe by the Rand McNally & Co., Chicago

A superb example of Art Deco design with the elegant linear symmetrey of the pillared columns that support the globe. The warm wood finish compliments the pastel colors of the globe which is illustrated with nautical icons from world explorer's ships to the compass rose. The whimsical cartouche is in the form of a shell held by Neptune and a mermaid. A classic globe in the Art Deco style!

The political borders displayed include; Israel (1948), East & West Pakistan (1947), Siam (becomes Thailand again in 1949), French Indochina

The condition of the globe is very good with some soiling and minor scuffing and a very slight indentation in the Midwest. The wood base is in very good condition...no discoloration but a slight separation between the top and side on one corner. The finish on the metal columns has some loss on the edges.
