Le Culbuto is an antique French bagatelle game, the object of which is to simultaneously guide four eggs ('rolys"), which are difficult to control, into the inserts without them finding their way into the Lost (Perdu) area at the far end.

The name of the game translates to "the Roly," which is a weighted object that may be knocked over, but always returns to an upright position. Bagatelle is a billiards type game, played on a tabletop.

The game parts include a tray/track and four pastel 'eggs'. The sloping track is a cloth lined metal tray with a porcelain knob on the bottom used for pivoting, two similar knobs on each side to assist in manipulation, and eight inserts with varying numbers of points assigned to them. The weighted eggs are made of cellulose.

The original box is included, shows a lot of wear and has some tears. The tray, painted and hand stenciled, shows some light wear and about half of the inserts are rusted. the paint on the knobs has flaked off a bit. The rolys are a little worn, but may brighten up with a gentle cleaning.

Box measures 19 1/2" x 9" x 1 1/2" (49.5 x 22.9 x 3.8 cm)
