This is my interpretation of a Japanese style tea cup. This is smaller than the tea bowls I usually make so I really don't want to call it a "tea bowl". It is very much a small cup, somewhat like a guinomi.

This is hand thrown on an electric wheel. The clay body for this cup is a grainy stoneware and fired at high temperatures (above approximately 1300 C or 2372 F). This was a nine day firing.

I added (wedged in) some organic material to the clay which burned out in the firing process.

This cup can be used for sake, wine, or perhaps some tea.

This item is dishwasher and food safe.

Dimensions: ~2.5 in. H x ~3.5 in. W
Holds ~7 fluid ounces
