I have a mental check-list when I look for sea glass:

1. Frosted surface
2. Rounded edges
3. Unusual shape or size.

I look for all three of these qualities in the sea glass I find on the beach near my home and any that do not measure up I toss back into the waves for the ocean to finish her work. Since this piece of sea glass does not have everything on my check-list, what was so special about it that I decided to create a pendant out of it anyway?

I love that the word "deposit" is still visible on this piece of glass. It reminds me of stories my grandfather would tell of how he collected glass bottles for the deposit he would get back when he turned them in.

There are no sharp edges on this amazing piece of sea glass; the ocean has already begun the natural tumbling process. It takes dozens or even hundreds of years to create the sea glass normally used for jewelry, so it's obvious that this piece hasn't been in the ocean very long. You can see that the sand has just begun to wear away at the shiny surface as well.

This pendant is about 1 1/2 inches (4 cm) long and 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide and it will look fantastic hanging from a simple chain. I've used antique bronze wire to carefully wrap the sea glass and create the bail. I've also created a single ring that is about 5 mm wide to make putting it on almost any chain easy. This pendant would be great for guys as well as girls!
