This timeless design of diamond panes of glass is certainly one of my favorites. I'm not sure why I put this panel off for so long, but am glad that I took the time to put it together.

The method of interspersing smaller panes of glass, in apparently haphazard fashion, is called "accidentals". In the middle ages when stained glass windows became more common, they were constructed in a similar manner. When a pane broke it was, impossible to replace it with the exact same color so people took whatever was available.

Eventually, mixing colors, as if panes had "accidently" broke, caught on as a style of its own. The trick is not only to get the proportions of color to clear right, but placing them in what looks like a random manner.

With this in mind, I constructed this panel. Over fifteen different textures of amber and gold-colored glass have been used to complete this panel. And the cathedral-style of purple glass pulls everything together. It measures 16 1/16" wide x 24 1/2 tall - although I suppose you could rotate it so that the dimensions were flipped. It is currently without hooks in the upper corners, but happy to solder those in place if you are interested in purchasing this panel.

And if this design is of interest to you, but the size doesn't fit a window in your home, please don't hesitate to contact me. I'm happy to design something more appropriate.
