This platter makes me dream about summer parties on the deck. It is a very pretty grayish tan large round platter with an attached dip bowl coming out of the center. It has a reddish design around the plate--possibly a peacock feather design. I am not sure if the design is made with slip or glaze. There are also stripes inside and around the outside of the dip bowl. There is also a stripe below the rim. There are little jiggles in the design, so it appears it was applied by hand. My best guess by the design, etc. is that it's from the 1970's.

It is in excellent condition. There are no chips or cracks. It is signed "Brown" on the bottom in cursive. It is a heavy platter--about 4 1/2 pounds. It measures about 14 inches across. The dip bowl is about 4 1/2" across. The bowl is about 2" high. The platter is about 2" high as well.

It is a lovely, natural pottery serving piece that would enhance any gathering.
