This fabric is from an unused bolt of silk designed and crafted for a japanese kimono during the mid Showa era (from some time between the 1950s to 1980s).

It is the quintessential sage green that shades to greyish green in places and warmer olive green on the mountain tops - a superb effort in dying fabric by yet another unknown textile artisan of that era.

It is a machine woven tsunami pattern, over which the mountain pattern is dyed. There is also subtle hand painted or print foliage detail in random places in a naples yellow.

It feels fine and floppy with a lovely low lustre with dry but smooth feel.

The price is panel (before the pattern repeats) which is 62cm or 24 inches (shown in 3rd photo).

Width: 36cm or 14.2 inches

100% pure silk.

Condition: Excellent, well kept for decades from an unused bolt of fabric.

Postage Guide:
You will be refunded for any postage & packaging overcharged. The etsy-calculated rate is sometimes higher than the actual (never lower).

As a guide, 3 metres of japanese kimono silk to USA is $8.35 postage & packaging.

I combine postage whenever possible and charge postage plus packaging at cost. Please ask for combined total before buying if you are unsure.

*USA customers: Sadly there is now an AUD$9 surcharge imposed by the postal service for parcels over 500g entering the USA - to cover increased security checking costs.
The etsy rates are set to account for that charge after a certain number of fabric pieces or meterage is reached.
This means that postage cost for several silk panels or metres can look very high from the etsy quote - but if the parcel weighs less than 500g in total, it is likely the post will be lower than etsy shows. Please ask for a quote or custom listing if this seems too unsure for you.
