The bowl originally came from Japan in the 1950s. We believe the wood to be teak, and there is a gorgeous carved-wood and painted Japanese scene with mountains and pagodas in shades of red and green. The bowl is in excellent vintage condition with no cracks, or chips. There are what appear to be some paint marks on the bottom as if the bowl had been stuck to what it was sitting on. A really gorgeous authentic 1950s Asian mid-century piece nonetheless. The bowl measures nearly 8" in diameter and 2" deep.

Great as a trinket tray on your dresser or as a serving bowl for nuts or other dry snacks.

30 years as a vintage collector and hours of additional research help me to do my best to accurately describe and identify items before listing. Please feel free to share additional information if you have knowledge about a particular item - I love to learn. And if you're not happy with an item you can always contact me to work out a solution.

I love sending my items as gifts - let me know if you'd like wrapping or a personal gift card.

My preferred method of sending and receiving money is Amazon Payments (www.amazonpayments.com). It works instantly via email like PayPal, only is a much smoother transaction with NO FEES! All you need is your regular account with Amazon.com, and to have a United States bank account. I'm also accepting PayPal temporarily, but if you're in the US Amazon is way better. :)
