This is a very large mushroom fungi mounted on a wood bookend - definitely a conversation piece!

Not sure why the mushroom was mounted on the bookend the way it is because mounted to the side of the wood facing the giant fungi is a paper indicating that it was from the Ninth Annual Sweetheart Ball, February 16, 1963, Elk’s Ballroom, Sponsored by: Explorer Post 104, Connellsville. Paper also has a picture of a man in a raccoon coat and straw hat playing a ukulele. Not sure if it was only the bookend that was from the Sweetheart Ball and the fungi was possibly mounted to the wood at a later time.

Considering what this item is and it’s age, this is in good condition. The mounting of the mushroom is loose, some chips to the mushroom and some cracking, but this is still a viable piece of natural art and would make a great display.

Measures just over 10½ inches tall and 16 inches wide.
