Wow , My first formal Painting!!! This was great fun. Always afraid to tackle the process and fail, I trampled my fears, took up the brush, prayed for the Spirit to move and I began!!!

This piece began with a blank canvas and two pretty papers I wished to incorporate into the background. I decoupaged the paper to the canvas. While that was in the works a sketch I had done previously was transfered to a piece of Watercolor Paper and I began painting using Acrylic Paints (Some was watered and others at full consistancy) When complete and dry I moistened the paper in the areas I chose to tear and I did this very gently. The Rose was then Decoupaged with Multiple Layers of medium to the Canvas Board.
While The Decoupaging was being completed I began designing the Frame. This frame was Designed to be part of the piece as a whole and not just a frame that it went into. Many layers of Blue and Brown Paint in a Drybrush Technique were used to create the Antiqued Appearance.
When the Decoupaging was complete and Antiquing Glaze was added and finished off with multiple layers of Varnish for protection.
After Framing the back of the piece is finished up nicely....this will be a signature of mine. No ugly backs!!!

This piece will work nicely in many Decorative Styles. It is a Modern version of the Historical Art of Botanical Painting.

I truely hope you enjoyed this Art, for me it is a statement of courage and it symbolizes freedom from fear that binds a soul with inactivity.
