This gadget is a little unusual to say the least!....We have taken the Dekatron Spinner Night Light and added two little neon blinky eyes!...Welcome "Blinky Eyes" to our line of interesting things!

See it in action here: https://vimeo.com/39654657

A Dekatron (or Decatron, or generically three-phase gas counting tube or glow-transfer counting tube or cold cathode tube) is a gas-filled decade counting tube. Dekatrons were used in computers, calculators and other counting-related products during the 1950s and 1960s. This tube is filled with neon gas producing a very colorful orange glow as it rotates. The tube used in this device is a Russian type OG-2 most likely destined to be used in a military computer or even perhaps early space vessels. The OG-2 is a neon filled Bi-directional double-pulse decimal counting type dekatron. They are filled with Neon Gas, featuring ORANGE color dot. These Tubes were made by famous "Reflector/Sovtec" military plant in former USSR. These have been out of production for many years and may perhaps even be collectable in the future.

The two neon bulb "eyes" are Soviet INS-1 Tiny neon bulbs that flash on and off as the dekatron spins. Quite an interesting collection of vintage electronics that any collector would admire.

The handmade device uses the 60 Hertz line frequency as a trigger to control the speed of rotation. The tube should last for years as these devices do not generate heat and use very little power…well under 2 watts.

The tube is approximately 1 1/4 inch in diameter. It can easily be replaced since it has a tube socket. The case measures 2 1/4 inches wide by 4 inches tall by 2 1/2 inches deep. It is made of black polystyrene plastic and has a standard 2 prong plug. It has a toggle switch to control the power. The lights rotate in a circular direction at 360 RPM at a line frequency of 60 Hz. It produces a beautiful display of orange light that is animated. The "eyes" blink on and off to add to the effect.

The night light plugs into any North American A.C. power outlet and is turned on and off by a switch on the device. We can make these for other countries but will require custom plug and circuitry which of course can be ordered time permitting. Contact us for further information.

Be the first to own such a unique night light. It will be quite effective as an animated night light!......One more thing …..This device will keep your cats mesmerized for hours on end! …..Enjoy!!!

Caution: The internal power supply generates approximately 400 volts DC. Do not expose to water or use in extremely wet locations. Only qualified technicians with experience in high voltage may service this device. Electronico or its associates are not liable for injury from improper handling of this device.
