I'm offering this beautiful vintage pepper grinder or mill. It is marked "JH" and Sterling on the bottom rim (as can be seen in the photo). "JH" is the mark for John Hasselbring. Hasselbring was born about 1865 in Germany and came to New York in 1882. He was naturalized in 1896 and lived at 766 Hart St in Brooklyn at which time he was working as a silversmith. He is listed in the 1888-9 Brooklyn City Directory as a gold beater at 252 Humboldt. In 1900 he was still living in Brooklyn, still working as a silversmith. In 1910 he had his own shop. By 1920 he was either out of the business or retired.

Grinder is in nice used condition and produces a fine grind (see photo). It is 4" high by 1 7/8".

Questions gladly answered. Thanks for looking and please check out my other items.
