Bright Throw Pillow Mola Eagle Pillow Antique Primitive Folk Art Tribal Textile Applique

Antique Mola Pillow Hand Made Applique Eagle
I purchased this Mola pillow from beachfront mansion in Margate, NJ last week-end and inside the house was a mid century time warp; everything in the house was from the 1950's and 60's.
This is a unique type of textile work done by the Kunas or Cunas women of the Panamas. It is a complicated method of hand stiiched applique and layering. The colorful panel was originally used as the front panel of a blouse or Mola. It was removed from the blouse, backed with black cotton and a zipper was added, probably sometime in the 60's but I think the Mola is much earlier.
It measures 17" X 13" and the condition is worn. All of the corners have wear from use. See close up photos-use the zoom feature for better views.

Be sure to visit my shop for more 50's and 60's treasures and another Mola pillow from the same estate.
