Vintage 1950s Rand McNally Disney Globe - HARD TO FIND!!!

This is an 8 inch terrestrial globe produced by Rand McNally in conjunction with Walt Disney circa 1955-1959. It is screen printed tin and is 10 inches tall. This was an attempt by Rand McNally to enter into the "fun" world of globes just as Replogle did at this same time.

This was meant to be an educational children’s globe and is decorated with popular Disney cartoon characters and was supposed to invite children to “Find out about the world with us -- it’s fun!” The entire globe and base abounds with Disney characters and clever sayings!! One example: Mickey and Minnie Mouse stand facing each other holding hands while Minnie says, “I'm standing in Sunday And Mickey's in Monday Because of Int. Date Line."

The Cartouche is formed of stars from Tinkerbell’s wand, and with portraits of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Pluto: WALT DISNEY/ RAND McNALLY/ WORLD GLOBE/ One inch equals 1,000 miles/ FIND OUT ABOUT THE WORLD WITH US -- IT'S FUN

This great terrestrial globe is canted on an angle on a round base which is decorated with colorful characters including Goofy, Pluto and Donald Duck to mention a few!!. Other characters on the globe include Donald Duck’s nephews and Tinkerbell along with too mention others to list!!

I was able to date the globe due to the fact that the globe shows Vietnam as such and the Belgian Congo, which means it was produced after 1054 but prior to 1960.

The condition of this globe is good to very goodt!! The colors are bright and vivid!! There are two very small dents and minimal scratches and very little if any fading!! There is also a small amount of soiling throughout but nothing at all detracting! The base does have what appears to be a few "dimples" in the tin and I have shown a close up in the last picture. The base also has a minimal amount of scratches, again, nothing at all detracting!

This is a hard to find globe and one is this condition is just about impossible!! This globe is considered a "novelty" globe by collectors and extremely desirable. Both by Disney fans and serious globe collectors!!

You do not want this one to get away!!!

As Always, ENJOY!!!
