Vintage 1970's red kaftan dress with geometric embroidery representing flowers and birds. The front and sleeves are heavily embroidered, the back is left plain, these kaftans are normally worn under a long sleeveless embroidered coat Cropped bell sleeve, unlined.

Kaftans of this type were made by Tajik nomads in the northern mountains of Uzbekistan in Central Asia. Embroidered clothing like this has been traditional for centuries in the region. Beautiful!
