When the Romans invaded Britain in 55 BC and again in 54 BC (have you noticed how the Romans counted backwards) Julius Ceasar were reported to have said Veni, Vidi Vici, I came, I saw, I conquered.

This is a modern day version VENI, VIDI, VISA, I came, I saw, I shopped.

Initially it looks like a collage of print blocks, on closer inspection there is a quotation which can be seen and read.

It is made up from old poster printing blocks, the most recent from the 1960's others from early 1900's and before. They are made from hard woods and early ones hand carved. The frame is a part of an old type case (drawer).

The size is 13" x 8 3/4"

When I started making these I packed them even using thin slivers of paper so that the blocks would be tight, but when I brought them in from the workshop (shed at the bottom of the garden) they dried out and fell out so now I lightly glue them in.
