A sweet 18" necklace of dark blue imitation lapis stones from Afganistan. The blue is lovely, even though the jewels are not real lapis. Lavish and gorgeous. Wear it with a plain top.

The setting is not silver but it is a lookalike - very nice. They call it gypsy, German or gilt silver. The traditional form of making jewelry pieces was out of melting down coins so while I know it has some silver content have no idea how much. The small brown beads inter spaced throughout it are rosewood.

The necklace was hand made by Pashtun, a nomadic peoples in what is now Afghanistan. It is probably from the Logar region.

All of these pieces are unique and a piece of history of a people whose lives have been threatened from every angle.

This jewellery is tribal jewellery and made by hand. Some of the stones are a little rough - just don't expect total perfection. But there are no rough edges on the setting at all.

Kuchi is an Afghan word meaning those who go on migrations. Kuchis are Pashtun nomads who have maintained their traditional nomad lifestyle for more than 3000 years.

Lapis Lazuli is said to release tension and anxiety. It is known as ‘The Stone of Friendship'.

Gorgeous handmade Kuchi Tribal Necklace. Lapis like stones.
