This vintage Rand McNally ‘World Portrait’ table-top globe measures 16” high, inclusive of its metal stand. The globe itself is about 12” in diameter and has raised topographical relief.

Unlike most other desk-top globes, this classic unit has a full meridian scale and a double axis, which means the globe can swivel on a horizontal axis to facilitate viewing of the southern hemisphere (see 2nd photo). There is a rotating plastic disc on the crown for time zone conversion.

We believe this globe was issued around late-1960s to early-1970s because Bangladesh was still eastern Pakistan (not so named until 1972), and Zaire was still called “Congo” (not changed until 1971).

A cool retro statement for your home or office. And a great reminder of our ever-shifting world history, e.g. a once-divided North and South Vietnam, “Yugoslavia”, a partitioned Germany, and much more!

The globe itself is in excellent vintage condition with no tears or scratches. The metal stand has some oxidization (see 1st and 5th photo).

Due to its size this item would be shipped via Parcel Post with insurance.
We will refund the difference in postage cost in excess of $3.
