Inspired by Springtime flowering in our American Southwest.

This mandala is typical of the hundreds of Ojos de Dios that I made in the 1970's, and sold mostly in galleries, "trading posts," and other touristy places around Albuquerque NM.

I've been making these yarn and stick mandalas after seeing example made by Huicholi natives in central Mexico. I've taken a great deal of joy over the years trying my best to create artistic satisfaction within this framework, balancing color and design into pleasing geometric constructions. I hope my love of this artwork comes through in all I create.

I create in many sizes and shapes, but most recently I've been experimenting with 12-sided designs, which I believe match many spiritual and religious cosmologies.

All of my ojo have specific color and design themes, which are reflected in the individual names I've given them.
