Beautiful large porcelain figurine of an Oriental elder woman with yoke on her shoulders carrying two water buckets and a shovel in her other hand. The porcelain is painted in shades of blue with gold leaf gilding.

There is lots of detail work in the porcelain sculpture. The baskets have a woven texture. Her kimono jacket flows with tucks and folds. The sampan has has a straw texture. Most of all, her beautiful face finely detailed and accented with soft peach skin tone and red lips.

The figurine stands 12 1/2 inches tall. The yoke measures 8 1/2 inches across It is hollow on the inside and the base is covered with a drum like thin paper skin cover. There are no markings on this figurine. Exact country of origin is unknown.

This was acquired from an estate several years ago. The woman shared with me that she married her 2nd husband in 1951. This statue had been on his family's home mantle for many years and was given to them as a wedding present. Once there was a male figurine too, but alas, he was broken.

This figurine is in very good condition. It will be shipped fully insured. Shipping weight is over 4lbs Please inquire with your zip code for best shipping options.
