This beautiful, yet eccentric, Italianate house is in York, Maine. Eccentric, because it is not typical of what you'd find in Maine. But then York, Maine has an eccentric past, all the way back to it's founding as Gorgeanna (by the famed Sir Ferdinando Gorges, agent of the Jesuits who hated and wanted to overthrow Puritan Boston). The remainder of the drawings, left to right are from Falmouth, ME; Ruxton, MD; Wayland, MA.

Often, especially on bleak winter days, I would drive around and not find any good subjects, but I wouldn't go home. I would rather stop and get some coffee and resume the hunt.

While selling in Ruxton, Maryland, I hadn't gotten a sale all day. I had talked to several who were interested, but no sales. We really needed rent money. I prayed and then went home. That evening, a lady called me, who wanted a drawing done and would send me a check for half down. Her's was the last house I had gone to that day. It has been said, "Ask and you shall receive", and "give us this day our daily bread." I lived by these in my years of door to door selling. Asking in the physical realm and the spiritual and asking of the right Person was the key for me.

I started my business asking $350. for a house portrait and I ended with a dental surgeon telling me I wasn't asking enough (for him I did a drawing of his Boothbay Harbor, ME summer home and his MA dental surgery building). I made $2500. on the later drawing. Actually most artists of talent greatly underestimate the value of their own work. If a professional architect can get $2500-5000. for a rendering of an actual or proposed building, why shouldn't a freelance artist?

These house portraits are made custom as Christmas or housewarming gifts to frame and enjoy forever. The drawings can be any size you want up to 18x24". They are drawn in india ink on acid-free bristolboard or snowflake parchment paper with a technical pen tip sharpened with crocus cloth. Or they can be drawn with a pen tip on bristolboard. These are made from photos of your house sent to the artist via email or from life if you live in state (ME).

These drawings are all done by the artist and are the result of 20 years of labor.
