This piece is a small, but formidable oil lamp in the shape of a drum. The use of the square and circle brings balance and harmony. The fire ensures vitality and spirit. While Tsuku Bai is generally in reference to a basin used in Japanese temples to purify oneself, I have suggested fire, in place of water as a form of purification.

These squat, cylinder shaped oil lamps are perhaps my all time favorites to make. There is something quintessentially 'right' with the shape and proportion of them. That while in the process of finishing, as I hold them in my hand, some ancient, basic, fundamental truth is spoken. I cannot say what that truth is. But, I know it.

The dimensions are: 4" Diameter x 3 1/2" High.

You will receive a small stainless steel funnel as well as an instruction card with suggestions for the type of oil to use. Expect the burn duration to be between 6 - 8 hours per filling.
