This is indeed a great beer stein. Marked "MADE IN GERMANY" under the wooden looking handle of the 12" tall stein.

There are marks inside of the pewter cap. One is 4 letters ending with an M and the other is inside of a diamond shape if this means anything to you. Sure do wish I could tell you what they read.
This is a well made MUSICAL stein. Markings on the bottom read REUGE "Wer soll das bezahien" which seems to be the name of the music. It also has a green label that reads A. Schmid Linder, Denkmaistrasse 9, Luzern, Suisse. The music still plays well. Writing on the stein reads: "Und der Beutel schlaff und leer" on one side and on the other reads "Heinen Tropfen im Becher mehr".

The master is lounging at a table with a beer stein and cup in his hand while the buxom maiden approaches him with another beer stein. This scene overlooks a German town.

Very good condition for the age. I see no cracks, chips or crazing on the stein. The pewter cap needs cleaning but it is in good condition. The interior of this stein is a beautiful dark blue which looks to be porcelain.
