Here is a vintage statue / figurine of an Egyptian Deity Animal God, which appears to be a monkey or baboon. Monkeys and baboons played an essential role in Egyptian cosmogony. Various gods were portrayed as these creatures, and some of the earliest deities were sometimes depicted with baboon heads.

I do not know what the material this is made of; It is 1 lb 6.6 ounces heavy and appears carved. It does not appear to be soapstone; it could be a dense resin material. The carving, to me, is primitive yet detailed. On the back are Hieroglyphic symbols and characters, which I do not know how to read..........darn, why didn't I take that in school??

This little baboonish monkey is about 7 3/4" H and lil' over 2 1/4 L and 1 1/2" D at widest point. I cannot find a maker on this unless it is in the carvings on the backside. Where is Indiana Jones when I need him??

He stands on his own and as you can see in Pic #3, he kinda leans in.......a dot of wax would fix that!! He is quite an unusual piece; unique and different.............

Shipping will be USPS Priority Flat Rate 13.20 OR Parcel 12.99......These are ESTIMATES from WEST coast to EAST coast. I do refund excess over $2.00. If you want exact quote, pls email me.
