3. We'll send you a digital proof within one working day (M-F) - once you approve it, we'll begin the printing process.

○ A note to all letterpress-lovers about our process : we use metal type, which is quite soft. You won't find trendy heavy impressions in our shop, since that's only possible with plastic plates - it would ruin our lovely metal type! We're proud to be one of the few commercial shops preserving this heritage practice. ○

Frequently asked questions about seabornpress

Letterpress printing is a type of relief printing, which means a raised surface - in our case, metal type and images - is covered in ink and pressed onto a sheet of paper. This creates a slightly textured surface with crisp printed edges.
We use lead type and images - like the printers of yore - so we don't print with a deep impression. If we did, our type would be ruined! Lead type is very soft. Some modern printers create extremely deep impressions - this is only practical when using digitally-created plastic plates. We're proud to be one of the few commercial shops around to carry on the tradition of craft printing.
We send the proof to the email address you have registered with Etsy within one working day. Please note that "one working day" does not include weekends (Saturday & Sunday). If you haven't received your proof and think that you should have, just send us a message and we'll be happy to resend it!
We're happy to do rush orders, provided our schedule allows for it! Our standard rush is 7 business days from proof approval and costs an additional 25% and an optional express shipping upgrade fee. To place a rush order, please contact us before ordering so we can make sure our schedule allows for your order.
We ship to any country in the world! For all overseas orders, we ship USPS First Class mail. The estimated delivery time for international orders is 1-8 weeks. Customs delays vary from destination to destination, can be lengthy, and are difficult to predict. We're always happy to upgrade you to a quicker shipping method if you like. All international customers are responsible for customs / VAT / import taxes. Contact your local customs office if you have questions about import tax rates.
Since we aren't a job printing studio, we only print our own designs. However, we'd be happy to work with you to come up with custom pieces that use the fonts and images we have!
We are firm supporters of other small, family-owned businesses, especially those who are based in and manufacture in the USA. We also strive to purchase materials and packaging from suppliers who practice ecologically sound manufacturing processes.

We ship USPS for domestic and international customers. All domestic mail is shipped with insurance and tracking information. There is an estimated delivery of 2-5 business days to the US, 7-21 business days for International delivery, not including any unforeseen customs delays. If you need your item sooner, we can upgrade you to Express Mail (overnight to many US locations) - just contact us before you pay. All orders come with delivery confirmation, so you'll be able to track your package right to your door! Shipping does not take place until we have received your payment. We ship to whichever address you have listed with Etsy, which we also list on the proof sent to you before printing.
International customers are responsible for customs and import fees due upon arrival. We have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. Customs policies vary from country to country - you should contact your local customs office for questions regarding import fees. International orders must have full value declared on customs forms as per USPS regulations.

All turnaround times are from final proof approval to shipping date and include working days only (M-F). Ink color changes add an additional 3 days to turnaround time. Large orders over the minimum order size may increase turnaround time - message us if you have specific questions.
