Why is Joji Creations Different?
- We don't Lacquer our pendants - We RESIN them.

What does this mean?
- Unlike Lacquered pendants our pendants are very durable and are able to stand up to EVERYDAY wear without being ruined, even when worn regularly by children!

How big is it?
- The crane is 3.5cm (1.38 Inches) from wing tip to wing tip

How about the necklace and findings?
- Our bails are also resined onto our cranes ensuring that they will not fall off and are then hung on a 45cm (17.7 inches) with a parrot clasp on the ends.

ALL of our findings are EU standard NICKEL and LEAD FREE then silver plated, making them perfect for people with metal allergies!

Significance of the Origami Crane?
An Ancient legend originating in Japan promised that anyone who folded Senbazuru, a thousand origami cranes, would be granted a wish by a crane, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury. They are traditionally given by a father to a daughter as a wedding gift or to a family for a baby to wish a thousand years of happiness and prosperity. It was brought to popularity through Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes a book based on a young girl who was in Hiroshima, she folded only 644 before her death; in her honour, her friends completed the rest and buried them all with her.

What is Chiyogami/Yuzen?
- The names Chiyogami and Yuzen are now used interchangeably to describe beautiful traditional Japanese papers. Yuzen papers originate from the Kyoto textile industry and have elaborate gold details in their patterns while the Chiyogami papers (translated to mean 'thousand generations paper') originate in the Edo period of Japanese history (1603-1868) and are wood-block printed papers. Each piece of paper is made from kozo and sulphate and has a silk-screened base layer with the pattern hand-printed above in multiple layers. Each colour visible on the paper is a separate layer of printing and drying which makes these beautiful papers very labour intensive.

**Even though it has been well sealed it is still not recommended that you shower or swim while wearing your crane, as this may damage it. (They have no problem with a bit of rain or accidental splashes – and normally are fine with one or two accidental soakings as long as your dry them as soon as possible)
