Here is my Cheshire Cat Mosaic Mask made of blue and white picassiette tiles. I made this mask during my mosaic period, it has an armature of styrofoam covered with steel mesh and several layers of thinset mortar. It has been waterproofed for hanging outdoors, and was in fact hanging outside for a couple of years with no bad effects, although hanging under a projecting eave may be a good idea.

The technique used is picassiette (broken dishes) - good for sculpture because you can take advantage of the curved dish going around the curve of the piece. I used a blue and white willow plate in the nose area so that the pagoda protrudes up into the the cat's forehead. For the inside of the ears I used a plate with a design of herbs, and lined up the gold rim of the plate with the edge of the ears. It weighs about 7 pounds, so you will want to hang it from a sturdy wall or tree. It is 16 inches tall at the ears, 13 inches across, and a bit over 3 inches in depth. It would be perfect for an Alice in Wonderland English garden.

Shipping costs may be less, in which case I will issue a refund, but will not be more.

More of my art work is in the Art Lab section of my mostly vintage shop here:
