Adult ADD-ADHD Book (eBook) -- The Truth About Adult ADD Updated June 2013You are purchasing an eBook written by Ron Sterling MD from his shop at Etsy. This eBook is an exact copy of its counterpart in paperback at Amazon. Since its original publication in 2011 and its update in 2013, no other book has educated its readers about ADD as well as the Adult ADD Factbook. All illustrations are exactly as printed in the paperback version and are easy to read. It is a fully searchable pdf file (Adobe Acrobat). It can be loaded up and be available in most electronic reader apps, such as Kindle. (For Kindle, you open Kindle, click on "File," and then choose "Import PDF.") There are two pages per view with a gutter, 286 total pages, and 911 citations. Most journal citations are abbreviated. With Kindle readers, you can highlight the url then click on Search the Web to quickly find the link to the Abstract and then to the online journal article, most of which are viewable without paying a fee. There is no index on purpose, since you can search for any term you wish in the pdf, itself. Dr. Sterling started on a huge intellectual adventure in 2008 which included the reading and analysis of over 25,000 pages of primary research literature related to ADD, dopamine, working memory, threat response capabilities, norepinephrine, sensory sensitivities, academic success, and intelligence. By 2011, he felt compelled to write about his findings, since the understanding of the underlying common denominator to ADD characteristics within the scientific community was far better and beyond anything available in the public domain. Dr. Sterling shines a bright light on the scientific findings which make it completely illogical to call the so-called ADD brain a "disorder." He points out clearly that the most powerful common denominator and force for producing almost all of the characteristics used for diagnosing ADD is "suboptimal dopamine presence and function for good working memory, but optimal dopamine presence and function for responding to threat." The book's strength is in its ability to arrive at a balance between scientific truth (which requires some technical and scientific language) and user-friendliness. It uses language and concepts that are easy to understand and remember, without dumbing down the very important scientific findings about the upside and the downside of the ADD brain.ADD is the current poster child for a large number of dopamine imbalance conditions that are significantly responsible for "nicotinism," alcoholism, obesity, many eating disorders, insomnia, fibromyalgia, and the over-use of marijuana, cocaine, illicit methamphetamine, and opioids, not to mention gambling, over-spending, impulse-control problems and "needy" behaviors ("addictions" -- uncontrollable habits) of all kinds. If you have been dealing with the challenges of ADD, this information, presented this way, will turn on a light for you. Dr. Sterling's book has been called a "game changer." It is written as much for non-ADDers as it is for ADDers.Give it some time to sink in and you will find yourself understanding so much more about why the Western Hemisphere brainsets are quite different from most other brainsets in the world. Thank you for viewing!

I love this vintage piece so much! It was lovingly handcrafted by the seller in the 70’s and he took the same care in packaging the item to ensure that it made it to me safely across the country. An all-around wonderful experience! I will definitely check out Ron’s shop again in the future!
