Vintage French Republic silver franc depicting THE Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, struck in 1808 at the Nantes Mint.

Notwithstanding the scratches, this coin has a beautiful combination of wear and natural patina to give it a nice aged look, but with a fair amount of detail remaining.

The Nantes Mint last operated in 1835, and like most provincial mints, made only a very small portion of France's coinage - with the Paris mint responsible for the majority of the output.

Diameter: 22mm (7/8")
Composition: 835 silver (which came to be adopted by many other countries in Europe later in the 19th century as the standard alloy for silver coinage).

Authenticity unconditionally guaranteed, as with all other coins and collectibles at www.etsy.com/shop/sterlingdelights/
