A simple A- line coat pattern was used for the base shell. Pieces of five different Japanese cotton fabrics are stitched onto the base. The lining and facing are made of domestic cotton. Hidden closures made with over-sized silk covered snaps.(Shown in photo No.3) Carved ivory decorative button at the neck. Stand up collar. Photo No. 5 shows one of three critters of unknown genre that can be found on the coat. They have been given beady eyes.)

Size: Med-large range. Loose fit makes it adaptable to many sizes. Length is 38" from neck to hem. Sleeve length from shoulder to wrist is 24". On me (5'0") it is a coat. On a friend who is 5'6" it is a hip-length jacket. When judged at the XXI Mid Atlantic Quilt Festival in 2010, it was called a jacket.

At the National Quilt Show in 2010 the judges observed that "the coat is an exceptionally flattering design for most people, the pieced elements are well done and appropriately placed within the body of the garment, the lining is well hung in the body of the garment and securely attached at the shoulders and arms, the fastenings are well handled, and the fabric choices create an exciting visual design." The hem of the lining is also attached with a floating thread tack.

At the XXI Mid Atlantic Quilt Festival, it won honorable mention as having excellent fabric selection, for being well pieced and constructed, and for being a very wearable jacket.
