Handmade fun and quirkiness - just the brooch to cheer you up, or the perfect gift for a friend who likes something above the ordinary.

**************************
“Her hopes were answered; Jane had not gone long before it rained hard. Her sisters were uneasy for her, but her mother was delighted. The rain continued the whole evening without intermission; Jane certainly could not come back.
“This was a lucky idea of mine, indeed!” said Mrs. Bennet more than once, as if the credit of making it rain were all her own. Till the next morning, however, she was not aware of the felicity of her contrivance. Breakfast was scarcely over when a servant from Netherfield brought the following note for Elizabeth: “My dearest Lizzy, - I find myself very unwell this morning, which, I suppose, is not to be imputed to my getting wet through yesterday.””

from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

This brooch is for cheering you up when the weather might be getting you down, it’s looks great on a coat – because let’s face it, if the weather’s getting you down, odds are you’re wearing a coat. Although, in saying that, this little cloud would be just as happy on your cardigan or blouse.

I gently wet felted some grey merino wool and finished shaping it into a cute little cumulus by needle felting. I wet-felted the little raindrops using a special secret felting technique passed down among Irish people who have to put up with a lot of rain, and stitched them on with thread so they swing when you walk!

Like this - but you'd love it in cream and blue? Check out:

**Vital statistics:

The Torrential Downpour brooch is approx. 5cm/2 inches wide, 7.5cm or roughly 3 inches long including the raindrops.
It has a pin back and is finished with a grey wool felt backing - which of course no one else will see, but you’ll be happy in the knowledge that your brooch is well finished.

**This brooch is ready to ship.

** Because I know this will be a treat - either for yourself or some else - it comes wrapped as a treat in a lovely kraft paper box with a drawing of the brooch on the front and the care instructions inside.
