Following is the original description:

An homage to NYC art deco buildings. It also looks a bit like a Bombay Sapphire bottle (my favorite gin). Bird lovers should know that it is also a functional outdoor birdhouse that can stand up to many years of weather (all of the wood and metal has already survived many decades outside) and can accommodate most common backyard small cavity-nesting birds, such as finches, chickadees, wrens, nuthatches, warblers, and titmice, while the double thickness of wood on the front, the vintage walnut portal extension and copper portal protector discourage larger birds and predators from violating or enlarging the entrance. It has a rear clean-out hatch, copper-lined ventilation holes on three sides and a drain hole in the floor, and notches on the inside front wall to aid fledglings as they exit the nest. The body is made from old yellow pine from a barn built in 1914 in Olivet, KS, and the trim, artwork, and roof from vintage tin roofing from two other deconstructed Kansas barns. The lovely flame finial on top is from a vintage lamp (my happy discovery at The Art Flooszy--http://www.etsy.com/shop/theartfloozy). The cut edges of the wood have been painted with gel stain and the two-section body sealed with silicon for watertightness. All reclaimed materials in my birdhouses are carefully selected for their structural integrity.

This birdhouse should be mounted on a flat surface (e.g., post or pole). Printed advice and instructions for locating and mounting are included. See my other birdhouses at http://roundhouseworks.etsy.com. Join my Facebook page at facebook.com/roundhouseworks.

A NOTE ABOUT SHIPPING: The rate for Alaska and Hawaii are double the rate given below for domestic shipments. In those cases USPS will be used (no tracking is available with that service).
