Sweet vintage cookbook with gorgeous, very Art Nouveau design and dozens of clipped articles and recipes that were found in the book:

Larkin Housewives' Cookbook, 1915
Larkin Co. New York
Hardcover with red bookcloth and dark green embossed type and design.
140 pages
Tons of black and white illustrations and graphics
9" x 6"

"Good things to eat and how to prepare them" is the subtitle. This is a darling little cookbook, published by Larkin Foods. Filled with 548 festive and everyday recipes that call for "Larkin" this or that, although they work with any brand. The recipes come from women who won their Larkin recipe contests, and their names appear under their receipes. Very Art Nouveau graphic design, full of swirls and flourishes and charming vignettes: a boy sneaking a donut off the table, a girl and her father breaking the wishbone. Quaint and historic but useful too. And whoever owned it tucked dozens of clipped articles and recipes in it over the years, including some advertising brochures (there's a wonderful collection here!).

Recipes cover every meal, including sandwiches for picnics, including Chicken Pie, Chafing Dish Special, Buttermilk Doughnuts, Coffee Cleared with Egg, Cocoanut Fudge, and more.

In very good condition. The cover has a bit of soiling and there is a small dark spot on the title page spread. Some yellowing, especially where articles were tucked in. The book is intact and the binding good, if a bit loose. The inside pages are strong and soft. No tears.
