This is a reproduction of my scratchboard art. Composition borrowed from the photograph of The Trusting Rhino. It won an award on Ebsqart.com for the theme "rhino".

Welcome to my Series of 31 Days of Rhinos, an unique adventure into the history of Art, my way; An exploration from different art genres to basic skill practice. I want to celebrate the Rhinoceros and make sure they stay on our planet!

I was surfing the web for more images for my series which will very soon be used to promote the cause of saving rhinos, and I found the Trusting Rhino. This photograph has made a mark on my soul. One of the most powerful images I have ever seen, almost surreal. So I decided to honor this incredible animal and the photographer by using the image in my #19 Scratch Board Rhino, "Literary Illustration". Most illustration for magazine, newspaper and books were done with etchings and inkplates until the scratch board showed up, making it easy to photographically reproduce images. Hail the scratchboard. Fun Fun Fun!

Once complete, my 31 Days of Rhinos will show together as both a reminder of the role of Art in human history, but also to raise awareness to the cause of the Rhinoceros, who need protection from poachers who murder and mutilate them for their horns because there are still people who believe the horn has medicinal properties. Wont you help raise awareness for this incredible animal?
