This frosted green marble was found on the North Sea coast of Kirckaldy, Scotland. It has seen a lot of rough and tumble wear in the sea and is no longer perfectly round, though it is smooth. It measures approximately 3/4 inch in diameter.

Most likely this marble was manufactured as part of the Codd bottle, which was patented in 1872 ( The marble acted as a stopper for beverages manufactured in Codd glass bottles. The unique shape of these containers allowed the marble to remain inside the bottle, even after the beverage was opened. The only way the marble could escape was if the glass bottle was broken open, which makes these special glass marbles a rare find!

This item was hand collected by me and comes gently washed and packaged with care for safe delivery.
